Expansion of Residential Solar

in and Around Chicago, Illinois

For Freedom Solar Power

By Maya Thomas

Student at Pennsylvania State University

The purpose of this proposal is to present to Freedom Solar Power the benefits of expanding into anew market and how local incentives can be utilized to help make residential solar more

accessible to people in and around Chicago, Illinois. Climate, median income, the number single

family homes per capita, as well as local incentive programs were all considered as

metrics in determining which market would be most suitable. This is how northest Illinois was chosen.

The proposal also provides Freedom Solar Power with information for solar incentive programs in existing markets, and for the prospective market expansion in Illinois. I have worked in conjunction with Danielle Kazpryzk, Senior Marketing Partnership Associate at Freedom Solar

Power to outline reasons for the recommended expansion in this market. As well as, ways to drive further installs in current markets based on incentive programs.
